Pain reprocessing therapy (PRT)

I can provide direct pain coaching or interweave PRT interventions into psychotherapy sessions where pain is not considered the primary focus of treatment.

Mind-Body Healing Groups

8-week groups for individuals with ongoing symptoms that impact their daily life. Anyone with chronic conditions such as body pain, fibromyalgia, migraines, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), or long-COVID can participate.

This group helps you:

  • Connect with a community of like-minded individuals on healing journeys

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the neuroscience of pain

  • Develop new tools to help you transform your mindset and your body

  • Overcome fear of pain, movement, and more

  • Find empowerment and joy in everyday activities again

This group aims to combat the isolation felt by those experiencing chronic symptoms and to actively help them regain control over their lives. The curriculum draws from modern neuroscience on the brain and central nervous system’s roles in chronic pain, providing opportunities to retrain the brain to process pain differently.

The 8-week curriculum is offered through groups at the Samaritan Center and can also be hosted as a workshop series by outside agencies. Please contact for upcoming dates if you are interested in participating or a wellness agency interested in hosting.

Group testimonials:

“Before working with Brooke, I was suffering with debilitating symptoms of Long Covid. Chronic fatigue, POTS, insomnia, and post-exertional malaise symptoms were dramatically affecting my life, to the extent that I could barely leave the house. After countless specialists, medications, and supplements I was only getting worse. Within three months of working with Brooke, I was back to my normal life almost completely symptom free. My recovery felt miraculous. Her group helped me understand the neuroscience behind my symptoms, provided tools to regulate my nervous system and break out of the fear-pain loop, and provided community with others navigating similar challenges.” ~ Lily

“I cannot recommend Brooke's pain reprocessing therapy program enough. When I started the program, I was suffering from chronic IBS symptoms - we're talking disruptively non-functional bowels, almost every day of the week, for years. With my modest budget, prior to starting the program, I had attempted to determine physical causes of my symptoms with my doctor, to no avail, and had been using OTC medication to relieve symptoms but getting nowhere in terms of actual prevention. I went into the first session deflated and somewhat embarrassed to go into the potentially off-putting details of my ailment, but thinking "What the hell. Nothing else has worked - I'll give it a try."

Brooke's guidance and the supportive, non-judgmental group environment she fostered made me feel not only safe being vulnerable about my symptoms and digging into the root causes of those symptoms, but less alone in my struggle with chronic pain. It was so validating to do this work knowing that every individual in the group was there with me, struggling with similar stresses. All of us were frustrated with failed attempts to resolve our chronic pain, and looking for a solution that would actually help.

The education and tools I was given over the next 8 weeks re-wired my brain to an extent few other therapy experiences have. The mindfulness and somatic tracking practices I learned in PRT, better understanding how my brain sends danger signals to my body that manifest into my symptoms, digging into the roots and developing awareness of how my chronic IBS symptoms were actually "serving" me (or so my brain had apparently been trained to think), and learning to practice "outcome independence" in the face of a flare-up have been some of the most effective approaches to prevention and pain management I have tried. And I'm so happy to say that since finishing PRT, my symptoms have gone from daily, to a few times a month (varying of course for stressful triggers arising in my life, which I now have effective tools for practicing neutrality in response to).

All my gratitude goes out to Brooke and pain reprocessing therapy. If you're also frustrated with having gotten nowhere with your attempts to prevent or better cope with your chronic pain, I highly recommend you try her program. Last thing I'll say is prepare to do HOMEWORK, and to commit to continuing to use the tools you learn indefinitely. You will get nothing out of this program if you don't.” ~ Hanna
